What are the common yarn dyeing methods?

2024-11-07

There are 7 common yarn dyeing methods on the market. Let Hongshun Printing and Dyeing Machinery Co., Ltd. take you to learn more about them.

Hank dyeing

The short-fiber yarn or filament is transformed into a frame of hanks on the reel, and then dyed in various forms of dyeing machines. This is hank dyeing.

Cheese dyeing

The short-fiber yarn or filament is wound on a bobbin full of holes (the winding degree is required to be appropriate and uniform, generally called "loose tube"), and then it is put on the dyeing column (also known as yarn, spindle rod, plug rod, etc.) of the dyeing machine yarn carrier (also known as flat plate, hanging plate, yarn rack, etc.), and put into the cheese dyeing machine. With the action of the main pump, the dye liquid penetrates and circulates between the yarn or fiber of the cheese, and the dyeing is realized. This is cheese dyeing.

Warp beam dyeing

According to the requirements of the color and quantity of the warp yarn of the colored fabric, the original yarn is wound on a perforated coil on a loose warping machine to form a loose warp beam (which can be regarded as a large tube), and then it is installed on the yarn carrier of the dyeing machine and placed in the warp beam dyeing machine. With the help of the main pump, the dye liquid penetrates and circulates between the warp yarns or fibers to achieve impregnation and dyeing. The method of obtaining a warp yarn with uniform color is called warp beam dyeing.

Warp beam pad dyeing

Warp beam pad dyeing is mainly used in the production and processing of denim with colored warp and white weft. It introduces a certain number of thin beams into each dyeing tank, and after repeated multiple immersion, multiple rolling, and multiple ventilation oxidation, it realizes the dyeing of indigo (or sulfurized, reduced, direct, coating) dyes. After pre-drying and then sizing, a warp beam yarn with uniform color can be obtained, which can be directly used for weaving. The dyeing tanks during warp beam roller dyeing can be multiple (sheet machines) or one (ring machine). This equipment used in conjunction with sizing yarn is called a sheet dyeing and sizing combined machine.

Yarn bundle dyeing

This is also a special dyeing method for denim warp yarn. The dyeing process is to first bundle 400 to 500 original yarns into a ball shape, and then repeatedly immerse, roll, and ventilate several bundles (such as 12 bundles, 18 bundles, 24 bundles, and 36 bundles) of yarn in multiple dye tanks for multiple times. After dyeing with indigo dye, the yarn is divided and sized. Acrylic yarn bundles can also be dyed with yarn bundles.

Bread yarn dyeing

Similar to loose fiber and cheese yarn dyeing.

Special yarn dyeing method

Like fabrics, yarns also have local dyeing, such as printing knots, segment dyeing, tie-dyeing, printing, discharge dyeing, gradient, etc.

1. Printing section

According to the design requirements, a small section (such as 0.5-1cm) of color is printed on the spread skein at a set distance. It can be the same color, but most of them are colorful. It must be noted that the spacing must be irregular and unequal, otherwise the cloth will appear "turtle back" or "landscape painting" phenomenon.

2. Segment dyeing

Several dyes are dripped on different parts of the spread skein at the same time, and after vacuum absorption or squeezing, the color is fixed and washed. Compared with printing section, the color section is longer, the spacing between white yarn is smaller, and even two adjacent colors will appear "color matching" on the yarn. Segment dyeing yarn is more used on knitted fabrics.

3. Tie-dyeing

Parts of the skein are tied tightly with ropes (or plastic films), and then dip-dyed. As a result, the tied parts are left blank, the tied parts have some bleeding from dark to light colors, and the untied parts are evenly colored, and the product has a unique charm.

4. Printing (printing warp)

This method is generally used to produce warp printing machine fabrics. Printing patterns on the warp yarn (not on the weft yarn) makes the product style hazy, like flowers but not flowers. When printing the warp, you can first fake weave (knitting method is to print first and then warp, and weaving method is to warp, fake weave and print), or you can print directly on the warp yarn, such as synthetic fiber warp yarn can be printed on the transfer printing machine.

5. Gradient dyeing (seven-color silk)

Dye different parts of the skein (silk) in the dye solution for different times, so that each frame of yarn presents a gradient color from light to dark without obvious boundaries, such as the seven-color silk thread of traditional Chinese embroidery.

In addition, there are half-side dyeing, spray dyeing, single yarn continuous dyeing, etc.
